Roundworms In Humans

Roundworms reside in the digestive system, namely the intestines, of a human being and causes lot of troubles. It is a highly infectious disease and can spread within the family members very quickly. Each year billions of people all over the world die because of these small dangerous creatures. To stop the spread of roundworm, one must be able to understand the symptoms and the causes of a roundworm infection.

Children are mostly affected by roundworm menace compared to adults. The reason is quite obvious. Children are less bothered about hygiene and sanitation than adults. Roundworms thrive more on the areas which are environmentally unclean and where the feces are utilized as fertilizers for the soils.

Different varieties of roundworm exist in humans. These are microscopic organisms which are very difficult to identify from a naked eyes. Roundworm infection makes its entry in a human body through items or objects that are already contaminated with this infection, such as dirty fingers, hands, food and even water.

The most common symptoms of round worm infection in children as well adults are a loss of appetite, irritability, fatigue, weakness, sleep disturbances, restlessness etc. the overall body weight reduces accompanied with diarrhea and abdominal discomfort. Some times, depending on the variety of roundworm infection, there may be occasional blood stains in the stool.

To prevent occurrence of roundworm infection among children, they should be taught to wash hands regularly and avoid putting dirty hands or fingers inside the mouth or near the areas of eyes. Roundworms may also get transmitted from a pet that is infected with it. So, even pets must be treated for this infection.
