As many of us are aware, roundworms are common parasites that infect pets like cats and dogs. Roundworms live in an animal or person’s digestive tract and can cause considerable health problems as it survives by feeding on body resources.

There is a serious possibility of roundworm infections being spread from the feces of the pets, and affecting children and even adults.

In order to avoid infection and transmission of diseases, take your pets to a veterinary care immediately once you find symptoms of roundworm infection. You should also take utmost care that you completely get rid of the roundworm eggs even after the treatment. As the roundworms are expelled through the feces, make sure that you remove and dispose the infected feces in a proper manner. Throwing away the feces just does not work. You need to ensure that the feces are burnt or they are disposed in a sunny area. Even after treatment, post-care medicines should be given so that the roundworms do not repatriate and cause infections.

Routine deworming is a way by which it is possible to prevent the risk of re-infection of the mammals with roundworms. A regular fecal examination can help in spotting roundworms easily at an early stage, and can help in proper treatment so as to avoid the infection from recurring.

In addition to this, it is necessary to take steps to keep the living environment clean, and keep a strict control over insects and rodents, especially in the areas prone to roundworm infection.
