As per the regulation of the United States, any dog entering the boundaries of the country should be vaccinated against the deadly disease of rabies at least a month prior to its arrival. The exemptions to the rule encompass puppies younger than 3 months of age or dogs coming from rabies free sites as per the norms of the U.S. Public Health Service. Therefore, being a dog owner if you are desirous of gaining an entry for your pet into the US, you certainly need to furnish a rabies certificate. This legal document should be preferably in English. A certificate in any other language should be translated. |

The rabies certificate should have certain important aspects clearly mentioned on it. The first thing that the certificate should illustrate is the tag number that every dog receives after the rabies vaccination. Particulars about the owner such as his or her name, complete address with zip code, and telephone number should be furnished. Next comes the details of the animal incorporating the species of the animal; and thereafter particulars like the sex, age, weight, breed and color of the dog. After giving details about the owner and the animal, the certificate should carry information about the rabies vaccine administered to the dog. These details include the dates of administration and expiration of the vaccine, the name of the manufacturer of the vaccine, the type and serial number of the vaccine. Thereafter, comes in the information on the veterinarian, who has administered the vaccine comprising of his or her license number and signature. Towards the end of the certificate, there is usually space for denoting the vaccination record of the animal specifying the different vaccines given to the animal and information about it being spayed or neutered. However, this last piece of information may not be a requisite in certain certificates.
