Spider mites are the menace for any garden. Spider mites grow and develop very fast. And, as usual, hot and dry temperatures provide them the favorable conditions to reproduce further. The marks left by the spider mites beneath the leaves make it quite obvious that they possess a dangerous appetite. |

To recognize the infestation of spider mites in the plant, look for the tiny brown or yellow colored dots on the leaves of the infested plant. A close observation also reveals presence of little strands of silk or webbing on the plants mostly visible undersides the leaves. These webs are being carefully spun to ease the laying of its eggs. A spider mite egg generally hatches within four to five days and in just a gap of a week they reach their adulthood. A spider mite matures and further reproduces in a temperature that is more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit and a relative humidity that is less than 60 percent. They possess two eyes that are red in color with 8 legs. Their bodies are hairy. The size of a typical spider mite would be about one fiftieth of an inch. They are nearly as big as a flea.
Spider mites are not considered to be insects and they have no antennas. Their body has an oval shape. The two wide varieties of spider mites are the two-spotted spider mite and the Spruce spider mite. The former one is known as a warm season mite and the later as cool-season mite who spends the maximum time in the stage of egg which gets attached to the plant host.
