Fleas are known to reside on their hosts. They lay eggs there and anywhere the host comes in contact with. These places are the host’s bed, clothes, carpets, cars etc. the eggs sometimes fall on the places that are being visited by the host. The eggs generally hatch within a week. New fleas emerge out of these eggs as larvae, and remain in places, like carpets and beds, for around two hundred days before being converted into pupae without legs. Thus, giving rise to a huge infestation.
To stop this huge infestation, here are few tips that can help you in getting rid of fleas completely:
- Wash every thing that you presume would be place for fleas this includes beds, linen, carpets, blankets etc with soapy water. While washing them care should be taken that eggs are not being dropped somewhere.
- Vacuum all the furniture, carpet, upholstery, any cracks in the floor, bare floors, behind the doors and windows. Immediately after you finish vacuuming, the vacuum bag should be disposed off.
- The balance of these nasty creatures can be dealt with a professional carpet cleaner. They use steam cleaning device to get rid of the larvae that are embedded deep inside the carpet. Shampooing the carpet with an insecticide cleaner is one good option.
- Cleaning the beds and clothing of the pets on regular basis is another good method of keeping the fleas at a distance.
