Wash your dog regularly using an anti-flea shampoo. Alternatively, you may add neem oil or eucalyptus oil to bathe the dog. You can also use these oils to wash their bedding. These oils are natural flea repellents.
The next important step is to regularly comb the fur with a flea comb. The fine toothed comb helps in extracting out the most difficult fleas that are closely attached to the skin. The comb should then be immediately dipped into soapy water, so that the fleas that have come out in the comb do not escape. The flea bites on your dogs should be treated with Aloe Vera or tea tree oil to give relief from the itching.
You must feed the dog a healthy diet. Fleas like to attack undernourished pets because of their weak immune system. Giving them raw food may not be good from biological point of view, but it is better to avoid them. Instead opt for meat as the best ingredient. You can even try using garlic and Brewer’s yeast in the form of powder or tablets. The smell of these items keeps away the fleas.
