The ear becomes inflamed and the skin becomes red in the infected part. The dog becomes less active and feels generally very weak.
Once you observe the discomfort, you have to take immediate action as the dogs feel very uncomfortable otherwise.
- Try changing the food you give to the dogs. This infection may occur due to low grade dog food. Make sure he consumes a well balanced meal to stay healthy and fit. Reduce the amount of junk food that he gets every meal.
- A product called “Revolution” is available for sale in the market. Use it once in a month to fight against ear mites as well as fleas. The product may be slightly expensive but it is worth the money you spend.
- Wash the ears regularly to remove the mites. Use a soap-free cloth that is warm to take out the gunk.
- Do not dig too deeply into the ear while cleaning but clear the waxy debris present in the ear which would also clear the mites over a period of time.
Ear mites are highly transmittable and hence if you have other pets in the house, make sure that they do not come in direct contact with the infected pet.
