The hair of a Yorkshire terrier grows very fast and requires frequent trimming. Their hair should be cut a reasonable length to prevent any hair matting and tangles from developing and helping you in combing.
Before combing the coat of a Yorkshire terrier, moist it slightly or spray some water. Use a wide-toothed comb to avoid hurting your dog. This will be easier for him. However, daily combing is suggested to avoid any problem such as tangling or knotting of hair, which develops easily if combing is not done regularly.
Regular washing or giving regular bath to the Yorkshire terrier is good to prevent tangles. However, washing a Yorkshire terrier once a week is highly recommended. Use a mild shampoo or dog shampoo which is specially designed to prevent any kind of skin irritation. Brushing the teeth of Yorkshire terrier is equally important. Any deposition of plaque or tartar on the teeth of dog could create a problem. Make a routine such as brush the teeth while bathing. However, consult your veterinarian if you find it difficult to brush your dog's teeth. If you cannot do it, then ask the veterinarian to clean the teeth at least once a year.
Trim the tip of nails properly. However, to avoid any hurting trim after he has taken his bath when their nails remain soft.
