Make a small place in your home for a Yorkshire terrier. Arrange crate, kennel or cage as the sleeping area. Put some toys into that cage which will help the puppy Yorkie to chew when it begins teething. Block the doors when you leave the house.

As soon as you get the puppy, take it to veterinarian for an overall checkup and follow the instructions given by vet. Make a schedule of what are the necessary vaccines required to keep the puppy fit and healthy. It includes first dose of DHPPCv within seven weeks, second dose of DHPPCv within nine weeks, third round of same within 12 weeks along with Lyme vaccine and final dose of DHPPCv after 16 weeks. After 20 weeks, parvovirus vaccine is necessary apart from rabies vaccination.

The toughest part of training Yorkies is potty training. Show the same place again and again, and make it realize that place should where it should use to relieve itself and other areas have to be kept cleaned. Use newspapers or litter box for indoors. But never scold the puppy as it may frighten it. Teach the puppy with patience and it will understand. If it is biting something, you can divert the puppy's attention by instructing it to bring something such as a toy. Say these things again and again so that the puppy begins to understand what is right and what is wrong.

Keep the Yorkshire terrier puppy clean and maintain hygiene around it. Groom and wash the puppy regularly. Provide good brands of food for overall development.
