How To Groom A Poodle ?

The standard poodles have dense, coiled and curly coat. Apart from white, poodles are available in other colors also such as black and brown. Poodles are very famous and well-bred dog which require grooming after a fixed interval of time. It demands complete grooming within four to six weeks, and in general within a week.

The thick guard hair of poodles needs a metal combing of smooth brushes. Regular combing helps to protect the thick underlying coat, which is very soft and has a cotton-like texture. Its texture makes the fur vulnerable to twisting, and regular combing prevents tangling and matting of fur. Generally, poodles lose very little or no hair.

Mat rake and splitter are the essential tools for removing tangled undercoat without shedding and hurting the dog. It reduces or eliminates the tangling without much pain. However, while doing this, one should not pull the hair as it will hurt the dog. Poodles easily grow hair behind their ears. This also increases the chances of ear mites. The hair behind and below ears should also be trimmed regularly. Also, check the teeth of the dog on a regular basis and visit the veterinarian for scaling of teeth after a regular interval of time. Deposition of plaque and formation of tartar can have dire consequences.

Beauty and brain should go hand in hand. Poodles are the most intelligent pets among dogs, so why not trim their hair which suits them best. Hair cut determines the look of your pet. Short hair is easiest to handle, as it will also take some time to grow. However, long haircut will also look good and give your poodle a stylish look.
