Facts About Basenji

Basenjis are commonly referred to as barkless dogs or African Bush dogs. It is one of the most ancient breeds which originated in the African continent. They are small and peculiar looking and are quite elegant and athletic. The coat of this breed can be of different colors -- black, copper or red. It is quite lustrous and silky. Their feet are white. Patches of white are also generally observed at the tail tip as well as the chest.

The Shih Tzu was a gift from the Tibetan monks to the Chinese emperor some 1,400 years ago. During that period eunuchs were the care taker for the dogs. In China it was named as Lion Dog due to its mane resembling to that of lion and was regarded as lucky charm. Later on it gained popularity in Asia also.
